Governor Calls for Vigilance Over Reported Terrorist Plans to Attack Worship Centres

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or unfamiliar persons in their communities amid reports of planned terrorist attacks on worship centres.

Governor Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Sunday, said residents must share relevant information with the police and other security agencies without delay.

The governor said his administration would soon convene an emergency State Security Council meeting with heads of security agencies to assess the reported threat and strengthen the state’s response plans.

He also directed the state’s Council of Traditional Rulers to convene a meeting to review and strengthen the security architecture at the grassroots.

Governor Adeleke urged residents to be cautious about people they host in their communities and to report anything unusual that could pose a threat to public safety.

While commending the Department of State Services (DSS) for its proactive measures, the governor directed other security agencies to review the situation and develop an action plan to protect lives and property.

He said the state must work closely with security agencies through timely intelligence sharing to prevent any attempt by terrorists or bandits to disrupt public peace.

“Our administration is committed to post-election peace building, and we must tighten state security to foil any attempt by terrorists and bandits to disrupt public peace,” Governor Adeleke said.
