Osun governor rallies supporters in Ipetu-Ijesha, Ijebu-Jesa, says no force can deny voters their democratic rights.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged voters across the state to participate actively in the August 15 governorship election and defend their votes in the spirit of democracy.
Governor Adeleke gave the charge on Friday during visits to the palaces of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesha and the Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, where he campaigned for his re-election alongside his cousin and Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke was accompanied by leaders of the Imole Campaign Council during the visits.
He urged voters to exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear, insisting that no force could deny the people of Osun their democratic rights.
“Free and fair elections are the inalienable rights of Osun people, and they are ready to protect and affirm those rights on August 15,” the governor said.
Governor Adeleke also urged supporters to mobilise their relatives and friends ahead of the poll, promising that their security would be protected during the election.
“Your security is assured. Your safety is guaranteed. Mobilise your relatives and friends. Vote for good governance and more dividends of democracy,” he said.
At the palace of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesha, Oba Adeleke Oke, the monarch commended the governor’s performance in office and expressed support for his re-election bid.
The traditional ruler also hosted a victory prayer session involving interfaith activities for the governor’s victory.
“You will win the second term and you will deliver even more than you have done in your first term. My people are eager to continue to be part of a good turn of events in the state,” Oba Oke said.
Speaking at campaign rallies in Ipetu-Ijesha and Ijebu-Jesa, Adeleke declared that victory was within reach and called on supporters to intensify mobilisation.
“Ijesa people, Osun people cannot be scared. We are people of courage. Vote and defend your votes,” he told supporters.
The August 15 governorship election will determine whether Adeleke secures a second term as governor of Osun State.
