Governor expected to appear before lawmakers as move signals improving ties with the state legislature.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is expected to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly today, ending months of uncertainty over the state’s budget.
The presentation is expected to take place at the Assembly Quarters Auditorium, the temporary venue for legislative sittings, pending the completion of the reconstruction of the Assembly complex.

Sources within the Government House and the Assembly confirmed that preparations had been concluded for the governor’s appearance before lawmakers led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule.
The development comes after the Assembly approved the state’s 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), paving the way for the presentation of the budget. Many stakeholders believe the move signals improving relations between the executive and the legislature after months of political tension.
