Oyo governor says Adeleke’s victory reflects the will of Osun voters after a keenly contested poll.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has congratulated his Osun State counterpart, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election for another four-year term.
Governor Makinde, in a message posted on his X account on Sunday, described Adeleke’s victory as a reflection of the will of the people of Osun State.
He said the governor’s journey to securing a second term had been long and challenging, expressing delight that the outcome of the election favoured Adeleke. Oyo governor says Adeleke’s victory reflects the will of Osun voters after a keenly contested poll.
Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, defeated his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to retain the Osun governorship.
According to the Returning Officer, Joshua Ogunwole, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji secured 444,815 votes. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came third with 17,180 votes.
The result gives Adeleke another four years as governor of Osun State.
