Police rescue one student as security operatives intensify search for remaining victims after attack during NECO examination.
The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six persons during an attack on Government Secondary School, Olowa, in Dekina Local Government Area of the state.
The victims include the school principal, a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc staff member, and four students who were reportedly writing their examinations when the incident occurred.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Command, ASP Salihu Oyiza Afusat, disclosed the development in a statement, saying security operatives swiftly responded to the attack.
According to the statement, a combined team of the police and other security agencies immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation and has since been trailing the abductors.
The command confirmed that one of the abducted students has been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
The latest incident has renewed concerns over the safety of students and school personnel, particularly during public examinations, as security agencies continue efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.
