Party Lists Candidates in Zamfara, Borno, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Nine Other States
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released the names of its governorship candidates in 12 states, dismissing claims that the party lacks candidates in some parts of the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party said it was fully prepared for the elections, with structures, candidates and supporters across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
To counter the claims, the NDC listed its candidates for the affected states as follows:
- Zamfara: Senator Kabiru Marafa
- Borno: Rear Admiral Ibrahim Sanusi Kasim (rtd.)
- Cross River: Hon. John Odey
- Akwa Ibom: Babanta Michael Okon
- Ebonyi: Nwofe Boniface
- Plateau: Yakubu Ndam
- Katsina: Ilu-Barde Aliyu
- Kebbi: Umar Besse
- Yobe: Jonga Gabakau
- Jigawa: Dutse Sani
- Taraba: Prof. Yahaya Sani
- Niger: Abdu Sidi Bomi
The party maintained that it was not a regional organisation but a national movement with political structures across the country.
The NDC also urged journalists and media organisations to verify political claims before publication, warning that the spread of unverified information could undermine public confidence in the media and electoral process.
The party said it was positioning itself as an alternative to Nigeria’s established political order, promising to prioritise security, employment and accountability if elected in 2027.
“Nigerians are tired of the old order. They are tired of recycled failures. The NDC is the preferred party to salvage Nigeria,” the party said, calling on Nigerians to join its “rescue mission.”
