Governor Seyi Makinde

APM Candidate Promises Nationwide Campaign for Good Governance, Development

Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has said his ambition to lead Nigeria in 2027 will not be restricted to any particular region.

Governor Makinde stated this on Saturday in Eruwa after he and his wife, Tamunominini, were conferred with the traditional titles of Aare Asoludero of Ibarapaland and Yeye-Aare Asoludero, respectively.

The governor said he would embark on a nationwide campaign to present his vision for good governance and development to Nigerians across the country.

“My aspiration to lead Nigeria will not be confined to any particular region. I am prepared to take my message of good governance and development to Nigerians across the country,” Governor Makinde said.

He added that the ambition would require extensive engagement with voters in different parts of the country as part of the political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.

The ceremony was held at the newly commissioned palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola, and attracted traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials and other dignitaries, including Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Debo Ogundoyin.

Governor Makinde thanked the Eleruwa and the people of Ibarapaland for the honour, describing it as a responsibility that would strengthen his commitment to serving the people and contributing to national development.

He also urged traditional rulers to remain above partisan politics and treat all political actors equally.

“I appeal to our Kabiyesis to steer clear of partisan politics and to embrace all political actors without bias. Any monarch who interferes in politics or political matters will be treated as a politician,” he warned.

Ogundoyin commended Governor Makinde for the inner-road projects executed in Ibarapaland and pledged lawmakers’ continued support for initiatives aimed at improving residents’ welfare.

The Chairman of Ibarapa East Local Government, Kazeem Owolabi, also praised the Governor Makinde administration’s interventions in the area and expressed confidence in continued support from residents.
