Candidates with deficiencies in Mathematics and English Studies to sit for re-sit examination on July 22 and 23.
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), with a total of 186,291 candidates participating in the nationwide exercise.
According to NECO, candidates sat for examinations in 12 subjects across the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and five foreign countries. The examination was conducted between April 20 and April 30, 2026.

The results were approved following the successful conclusion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairperson of the Award Committee and Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Folake David, who represented the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, commended the smooth conduct of the examination and the timely release of the results.
NECO also announced July 22 and 23, 2026, as the dates for the BECE Re-sit Examination in Mathematics and English Studies.
The council explained that the re-sit examination is intended for candidates with deficiencies in either Mathematics, English Studies, or both subjects, providing them with an opportunity to meet the requirements for progression into Senior Secondary School One (SSS I).
NECO reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining credible assessment standards while ensuring that candidates are given fair opportunities to advance in their academic journey.
