Army headquarters says redeployment of senior officers is aimed at boosting operational effectiveness and tackling emerging security threats.
The Nigerian Army has approved a major reshuffle of its senior officers, with new appointments across key operational, command, training and administrative positions.
In a statement on Saturday, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, said the redeployment, approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, is designed to strengthen national security and improve operational effectiveness.

Among the new appointments, Major General WM Dangana becomes General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, while Major General EI Okoro takes over as GOC 6 Division and Land Component Commander of Operation DELTA SAFE.
The Army also appointed Major General SA Emmanuel as Commander of the Nigerian Army Space Command, underscoring its growing focus on technology-driven security operations. Several other senior officers were redeployed to strategic command, intelligence, training and administrative positions.
The Chief of Army Staff urged the newly appointed officers to demonstrate professionalism, innovation and commitment to the Army’s mandate of defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and maintaining national security.
