Traders’ alliance pledges millions of votes for President Tinubu, seeks stronger government support for businesses and grassroots economy.
Nigerian traders under the National Traders Alliance for Renewed Hope (NTARH) have declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
The alliance also pledged to mobilise millions of votes from its members and their families across the country for Tinubu and candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The National Director-General and Convener of NTARH, Alhaji Olatubosun Yaqub, made the declaration at a briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, describing traders as critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s economic and democratic development.
Yaqub acknowledged the economic difficulties facing traders but said the challenges required constructive engagement and collective action rather than a loss of confidence in the government.
He said the alliance’s support for President Tinubu and Shettima would be anchored on peace, unity, responsible citizenship and democratic participation.
The traders also called for stronger collaboration between government and the business community, particularly in areas such as affordable financing, market infrastructure, transportation, storage, digital commerce, financial literacy, local production, youth entrepreneurship and job creation.
Yaqub urged the Federal Government to establish a structured platform for regular consultation with organised traders, saying stronger representation would enable the trading community to contribute more effectively to economic development.
The patron of the alliance, Senator Adamu Aliero, represented by Salisu Koko, commended the mobilisation and said traders from Kebbi State were adequately represented at the event.
The Lagos State Coordinator of the alliance, Prince Taiwo Adebisi, also pledged to mobilise traders across the state for Tinubu and Shettima in 2027.
Other speakers, including representatives of traders from Ondo State and civil society groups, expressed support for the alliance and highlighted government interventions they said had benefited traders, women and families.
The alliance urged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate peacefully and responsibly in the 2027 electoral process.
