The APC candidate urged the governor to protect residents and called for investigations into the deaths of party members and other victims of political violence.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory and called for an end to post-election violence in the state.
Oyebamiji, who spoke to APC leaders and supporters in Osogbo on Saturday, said his congratulatory message was in the spirit of democracy following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Adeleke as winner.
He urged Adeleke, as the state’s chief security officer, to take steps to protect the lives and property of residents, particularly during the post-election period.
The APC candidate also called on the police to investigate the killings of former Irewole Local Government chairman Remi Abass, Atakumosa Local Government APC chairman Gbenga Ogbara, Dele Ayegbo and more than 35 other victims.
Oyebamiji condemned alleged harassment and intimidation of APC members and supporters, as well as reported attacks on businesses based on the political affiliations of their owners.
He said the APC would pursue justice over the election through lawful and constitutional means, while urging supporters to remain committed to democratic processes.
Oyebamiji also directed party members to focus on the 2027 elections by strengthening the APC’s structures and mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other party candidates.
INEC declared Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, winner of the August 15 election with 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji polled 444,815 votes.
