The Osun State Government has warned members of the public against a fraudulent website being circulated as the official Osun State Sports Trust Fund.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the government said the website, osunsportstrustfund.com, was neither owned, authorised nor operated by the state government.

It urged members of the public to disregard information published on the platform and avoid responding to any fundraising appeals, payment requests or other transactions linked to the website.
The statement read, “The Osun State Government wishes to alert members of the public that the website https://osunsportstrustfund.com circulating as the ‘Osun State Sports Trust Fund’ is fraudulent and is not owned, authorised or operated by the Osun State Government. Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard any information, requests, fundraising appeals or transactions emanating from the said platform.”
The warning comes amid the state government’s earlier plans to establish a Sports Trust Fund to provide sustainable financing for sports development.
In February 2025, Governor Ademola Adeleke announced that his administration was finalising the legal framework for establishing a Sports Commission and Sports Trust Fund.
The governor said the proposed fund would provide sustainable financing for sports development, with the announcement coming during the rehabilitation of Osogbo City Stadium.
The government said the initiative was part of broader efforts to reposition the state’s sports sector, improve sporting infrastructure and support athletes.
The latest warning is aimed at preventing members of the public from confusing the unauthorised website with the government’s proposed Sports Trust Fund.
The website currently presents itself as the “Osun State Sports Trust Fund” and advertises funding and partnership opportunities, while displaying references to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and a proposed investment target.
The state government therefore advised the public not to make payments, provide personal information or respond to fundraising appeals through the platform unless its authenticity is independently confirmed through official Osun State Government channels.
