Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke

Osun governor says ADC was never part of coalition that supported his campaign, vows to govern all residents.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the party supported his re-election during the August 15 governorship election.

The ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, had attributed the party’s poor performance to its alleged decision to work for Adeleke to prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from winning the poll.

However, Governor Adeleke, through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said there was no electoral deal or partnership between the governor and the ADC before, during or after the election.

Rasheed said Adeleke credited God and the people of Osun State for his victory and clarified that the ADC was never part of the coalition that supported his re-election campaign.

The governor, however, commended the political allies who backed his bid for a second term, saying their support contributed to the victory.

Governor Adeleke said the conclusion of the election marked a new phase for his administration, promising to govern all residents of Osun State regardless of their political affiliation, religion or ethnicity.
