Police recover suspected human heart, flesh, skull pieces and charms during intelligence-led raids.

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected human parts dealers following months of intelligence gathering, surveillance and monitoring of their activities.

The suspects were arrested at different hideouts in the Iseyin and Saki areas of the state during an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said searches conducted at the suspects’ hideouts led to the recovery of several suspected human parts, including a suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of human skull and assorted charms.

He said the recovered exhibits had been secured for forensic examination as investigations continued.

According to Ayanlade, the suspects confessed to involvement in the alleged trade in human parts for ritual purposes and were assisting investigators in determining the source, procurement and intended use of the recovered items.

The police said efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the suspected syndicate.

Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Abimbola Olugbenga, commended the operatives for the intelligence-led operation and assured residents that the command would continue efforts to protect lives and rid the state of criminal elements.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist the police in preventing and detecting criminal activities.
