The Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG), Prof. Musbaudeen Babatunde, on Thursday commissioned the newly constructed Omituntun Amotekun Office at Ayegun in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Prof. Babatunde described the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, as a visionary leader whose commitment to grassroots development and security continues to positively impact the lives of residents.

The commissioning ceremony attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and residents, including the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Deputy Governorship candidate, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, alongside other government officials and party leaders.
The event also featured the presentation of empowerment equipment to beneficiaries to boost economic activities at the grassroots. In addition, three motorcycles were donated to strengthen security operations within the local government.
One motorcycle was allocated to the newly commissioned Omituntun Amotekun Office, another to the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), while the third is to complement security patrol operations across the council area.
Speaking at the event, the SSG commended Olatunji for prioritising the security of lives and property, noting that sustainable development can only thrive in a peaceful and secure environment.
He urged residents to continue supporting Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, stressing that collaboration between government and citizens remains essential for sustaining the state’s developmental strides.
Prof. Babatunde also expressed confidence in Olatunji’s aspiration to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, describing his achievements as council chairman as evidence of his competence and commitment to public service.
“From what he has demonstrated at the local government level, I have no doubt that Engr. Akeem Olatunji possesses the experience, vision and capacity to deliver quality representation for the people of Oluyole at the National Assembly,” he said.
In his goodwill message, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu emphasised that security remains the foremost responsibility of every government and commended Governor Makinde for strengthening security architecture across Oyo State.
He also praised Olatunji’s performance in office, describing him as one of the state’s most effective local government chairmen whose leadership has brought visible progress to Oluyole.
Responding, Olatunji expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for the opportunity to serve the people of Oluyole and thanked the dignitaries for honouring his invitation.
He reiterated that security remains a cardinal priority of his administration, revealing that several security posts have been constructed and commissioned across the local government to support security agencies and enhance community policing.
The council chairman assured residents of continued support for security agencies and pledged that more developmental projects would be delivered across communities in the area.
Speaking on his House of Representatives ambition, Olatunji promised to facilitate the construction of the long-awaited Ayegun/Olomi Road within his first year in office if elected, describing the project as a critical infrastructure need for the constituency.
Several dignitaries, including political office holders, traditional rulers, community leaders, market associations, youth groups and party supporters, attended the event.
