Four suspected accomplices on the run as Oyo Police transfer case to SCID for investigation.
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a masquerade identified as Asoleke over the alleged killing of a 24-year-old man, Sefiu Kehinde, in the Labiran area of Ibadan.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident was reported at the Mapo Divisional Police Headquarters on Sunday after the victim’s family alleged that the masquerade and his followers attacked Kehinde with axes and cutlasses during a procession.

Police operatives were immediately deployed to the scene and rushed the victim to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The scene was documented, while the deceased’s family was permitted to bury him in line with Islamic rites.
The Command confirmed the arrest of the Asoleke masquerade, while four suspected accomplices remain at large.
Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbemiga, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.
The Police assured residents that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and urged members of the public to provide useful information to aid the investigation, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and bringing perpetrators of violent crimes to justice.
