President says decisive measures are yielding results as government expands investments in security, education, power and transportation.
President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the security challenges confronting the country, particularly in the northern region, will soon become a thing of the past, saying his administration has put in place decisive measures to tackle criminal activities nationwide.
President Tinubu gave the assurance on Saturday in Kaduna at the Third Late General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference, where he was represented by his Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari.

Paying tribute to the late General Hassan Usman Katsina, the President described him as a symbol of humility, discipline, patriotism and selfless service, noting that his contributions to national unity helped shape modern Nigeria.
“While we continue to work day and night to secure our nation, by the grace of Allah, the challenges of insecurity confronting us, particularly in Northern Nigeria, will soon be behind us,” Tinubu said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to preserving the legacies of past national heroes while strengthening national security and promoting economic development.
Highlighting achievements in the education sector, President Tinubu disclosed that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has enabled more than one million students to access higher education through financial support. He added that the removal of tertiary institutions from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) has enhanced institutional autonomy and sustained industrial harmony in public universities.
According to him, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has financed the construction of classrooms, laboratories, hostels and research facilities across several states, while investments in teacher training, technical education and curriculum reforms are ongoing. He also announced the establishment of new federal universities and polytechnics across the country.
On infrastructure, the President said work is progressing on major road projects, including the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Expressway, the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, the Sokoto–Zamfara–Kaduna Road and the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road to improve connectivity and stimulate economic activities.
President Tinubu further disclosed that the Federal Government is expanding electricity access through projects such as the Kaduna Power Station, the 40-megawatt Kumbotso High Voltage Power Project and the revitalisation of the 215-megawatt Kaduna Power Plant. He noted that over 1,500 solar-powered streetlights and 50 mini-grids are being deployed to serve rural communities.
The President announced that the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Kaduna has been upgraded to a university named after General Hassan Usman Katsina, revealing that the institution is more than 90 per cent completed and has commenced academic activities.
He also said the government is developing the 1,350-megawatt Gwagwalada Independent Power Plant to improve electricity supply in Northern Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside renewable energy projects targeted at off-grid communities.
Speaking on transportation, President Tinubu said construction work on the Kaduna–Kano Rail Line and the Kano–Maradi Rail Project is progressing steadily. He added that funding has been provided for the Kaduna and Kano Light Rail projects, while the Abuja Metro Rail is undergoing rehabilitation alongside upgrades to the Abuja–Kaduna train service.
According to the President, the various projects underscore his administration’s commitment to strengthening security, creating economic opportunities and accelerating national development across the country.
