Suspected terrorists have abducted an unspecified number of students writing the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination after attacking Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the school on motorcycles around 9 a.m. on Monday, firing sporadically before abducting students and women selling food on the school premises.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Daso, said security operatives engaged the attackers, preventing a larger-scale abduction. He added that the Commissioner of Police had deployed the Area Commander to lead a search operation in the area.
A resident of Lassa and Special Adviser to the Adamawa State Governor on Media and Strategy, Solomon Kwamagar, said the attackers also killed at least one teacher during the raid. However, some residents claimed that two teachers and one female student lost their lives, while another teacher sustained gunshot injuries.
The exact number of abducted students is yet to be confirmed as security agencies continue search and rescue operations.
The attack comes weeks after another mass abduction in the same local government area, where dozens of students and children were kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
