Emergency responders rescue several victims as authorities continue search operations in Lekki.
Two people have lost their lives in separate incidents involving a truck accident and a building collapse in Lagos State, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
LASEMA spokesperson, Olawale Afolabi, said one victim died after a truck carrying a 40-foot container reportedly suffered brake failure and crashed into a Toyota Highlander along Old Abeokuta Road, inward Abattoir, on Thursday night. The SUV driver was rescued with severe injuries but later died, while two other occupants escaped unharmed.

In a separate incident on Friday, a three-storey building under construction partially collapsed in Lekki Phase 1. Emergency responders rescued seven people alive, while one person was confirmed dead at the scene. Another victim is still missing as rescue efforts continue.
The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said search and rescue operations are ongoing in collaboration with other emergency agencies to ensure no victim remains trapped beneath the rubble.
Authorities have urged residents to remain safety-conscious while investigations into both incidents continue.
