… urges Tinubu to consider new wage review, citing gains from subsidy removal and fiscal reforms

Governors under the umbrella of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) have called on President Bola Tinubu to consider increasing the national minimum wage to N100,000.

The appeal was made on Friday during a meeting between the President and state governors in Lagos as part of activities marking the administration’s third anniversary and the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Speaking on behalf of the governors, the Chairman of the NGF and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said improved revenues accruing to states following the removal of fuel subsidy and other fiscal reforms have created room for a review of workers’ wages.

According to him, the gains recorded from recent economic reforms should translate into improved welfare for Nigerian workers.

The governors urged the Federal Government to consider the proposal as part of ongoing efforts to ease the impact of economic reforms and improve living standards across the country.
