Police Commissioner inspects den where Adelabu’s sister and her children were allegedly held captive, says investigation is ongoing.

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, on Sunday led journalists to a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Lakoun, along the Ayegun-Olojuoro Road in Ibadan, where the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her two children were allegedly held during their captivity.

The visit followed the successful rescue of Mrs. Olaide Adelabu-John Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, who were abducted in the early hours of June 3, 2026, in Ibadan.

During the inspection of the location, the police commissioner reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring the safety of residents and bringing all those connected to the crime to justice.

Olugbenga said the rescue was made possible through intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated tactical operations carried out by security agencies.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements, strange activities, or misconduct within their communities to security agencies.

He emphasized that timely information from residents can assist security operatives in preventing crimes and tracking down criminal elements before they strike.

The commissioner also disclosed that investigations into the abduction are still ongoing, noting that efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who may have escaped during the rescue operation.

He assured residents that security agencies would continue to comb the area and pursue all leads until every individual linked to the crime is arrested and prosecuted.
