Aircraft arrive in Ibadan ahead of July deadline to strengthen intelligence gathering and support security operations across the state.
The two surveillance aircraft acquired by the Oyo State Government have arrived in Ibadan, fulfilling the government’s assurance that they would be delivered before the end of July.
The arrival of the aircraft marks another milestone in the state’s efforts to strengthen security operations through improved intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, recalled that the Oyo State Government announced the purchase of the two surveillance aircraft on July 8, 2025, as part of measures to enhance the capacity of security agencies to tackle emerging security challenges across the state.
He noted that Governor Seyi Makinde had, on July 18, 2026, confirmed that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were undergoing reassembly at the Nigerian Air Force’s hangar in Lagos before their eventual deployment to Oyo State.
According to the commissioner, the state government had assured residents about a week ago that the aircraft would arrive in Oyo State before the end of July, a commitment that has now been fulfilled.
The surveillance aircraft are expected to support security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps and other relevant formations, in monitoring criminal activities and improving response efforts across the state.
Prince Oyelade further disclosed that Governor Makinde was on hand at the airport to receive the two aircraft, describing their arrival as a significant boost to the administration’s ongoing investment in the protection of lives and property across Oyo State.
