Oyo state government demolishes building used as kidnappers' den

Security agencies and state officials move against criminal hideouts as investigations into the kidnapping case continue.

The Oyo State Government on Monday demolished a three-bedroom bungalow in the Lako Community area of Ibadan, allegedly used as a hideout by kidnappers linked to the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her children.

The demolition exercise was carried out by officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation in collaboration with security operatives as part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.

According to government officials, the property was allegedly identified during investigations into the recent abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons, who were rescued by security operatives following a coordinated operation.

Authorities said the demolished structure was allegedly being used as a base by members of the suspected kidnapping syndicate and formed part of measures aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating within the state.

The government noted that the action underscores its determination to deny criminal elements safe havens and strengthen security across communities.

Police authorities have maintained that investigations into the kidnapping incident are still ongoing, with efforts reportedly underway to apprehend other suspects allegedly connected to the crime.

The state government reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, warning that any building found to be allegedly serving as a criminal hideout would face similar action in accordance with the law.

Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities within their communities to security agencies.

Further details on the operation and ongoing investigations are expected to be released by relevant authorities.
