Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that he has forgiven everyone who offended him and urged his former opponents to work with his administration to move the state forward.
Adeleke made the remarks on Wednesday after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
In a video shared by News Central on X, the governor said he remained the governor of all residents of Osun State and urged people to put past disagreements behind them.
“As the governor-elect and, of course, current governor, as I told you, I’m the governor of all. Whatever happened in the past, let it be bygone because I have the fear of God.
“All the people that offended me, I forgive them. You know, what else do I want? The good Lord has fought my battle, and we have overcome,” Adeleke said.
The governor declared that Osun State had overcome its challenges, attributing his administration’s achievements to what he described as bringing light to the state and driving away darkness.
“Osun State has overcome. I brought the light to Osun State. And I drove darkness out of Osun State. Osun State will never see darkness again,” he said.
Adeleke also assured residents that his administration would continue to move forward and would not allow the state to be taken backwards.
“We will keep moving forward. Nobody will turn us around again,” he said.
The governor appealed to other candidates who contested the governorship election to put their differences aside and join his administration in advancing the interests of the state.
“I’m seizing the opportunity that all my other contestants, they should please come over, let’s join hands together, and let’s move Osun State forward,” he said.
Adeleke explained that his appeal was based on his belief that the state was greater than any individual.
“Osun State is bigger than anybody,” he said, while also remembering those who lost their lives during the election.
He prayed for the souls of the deceased to rest in peace and announced that his family would support their bereaved families.
“And I’m telling you, and of course I’m telling you that all those who have lost their lives, I’m promising, the Adeleke family is promising to take them, not government money now,” the governor said.
Adeleke’s comments came shortly after INEC formally presented him with his Certificate of Return, confirming his victory and second-term mandate as governor of Osun State.
