Examination body says results underwent rigorous marking, moderation and auditing processes.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has defended the credibility of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, dismissing unverified claims circulating on social media questioning their accuracy.
WAEC Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, said in a statement that the results were produced through rigorous, transparent and quality-assured processes that have guided the Council’s operations for decades.
The Council said the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates was conducted in line with its established standard operational procedures and relevant educational policies, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.
It acknowledged concerns among candidates, parents and the wider public but urged them to distinguish legitimate scrutiny from unverified claims and social media speculation.
According to WAEC, every candidate’s script undergoes multiple stages of marking, moderation and auditing using standardised marking schemes and vetted subject experts to ensure objective and fair assessment.
The examination body also said it had established channels through which candidates and members of the public could raise concerns, seek clarification or lodge queries about their results.
WAEC urged anyone with concerns to contact the Council through its offices nationwide or verified communication platforms rather than relying on unverified information online.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examination processes and protecting the interests of candidates.
