Government says students will remain at an alternative location until experts certify the environment safe for learningYour Attractive Heading
The Ogun State Government has temporarily relocated students of Our Lady of Apostles Girls Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode, following a chemical inhalation incident linked to methane gas emissions on the school premises.
Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed this during an inspection visit to the school, stating that preliminary investigations confirmed the presence of methane gas in the affected area.

According to the governor, the relocation is a precautionary measure to protect students, teachers, and staff while experts carry out a detailed investigation into the source of the emissions.
Abiodun revealed that similar incidents occurred in three schools around the same period and suggested that geological factors, including possible fault lines, may be responsible for the gas release.
He dismissed rumours that the incidents were deliberately targeted at schools, describing them as unfounded.
The governor assured residents that the affected students would not return to the school until authorities are fully satisfied that the environment is safe and conducive for learning, adding that the government remains committed to protecting public health and preventing a recurrence.
