DIG warns community leaders against endorsing ex-criminals as police launch border patrol to tackle insecurity.
The Nigeria Police Force has declared that repentant terrorists and other ex-criminals will not be recruited into its ranks, urging community leaders to stop recommending such individuals for enlistment.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ilorin, Kwara State, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Isyaku Mohammed, said traditional rulers, religious leaders and Divisional Police Officers must expose criminals rather than endorse them for recruitment into security agencies.

Mohammed acknowledged the Federal Government’s deradicalisation programme for former Boko Haram members but stressed that the police would not admit repentant criminals into the force. He warned that anyone found facilitating their recruitment would bear the consequences.
The DIG also announced plans to inaugurate a joint border patrol across Kwara’s borders with Oyo, Ekiti, Kogi, Niger states and the Benin Republic to strengthen security and curb cross-border criminal activities.
