Governor Sheriff Oborevwori

Sheriff Oborevwori has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oborevwori secured the party’s ticket unopposed during the APC direct primary election held across the state on Thursday.

Results announced at the APC Secretariat in Asaba showed that the governor polled 345,375 votes.

Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer, Vita Abba, officially declared Oborevwori winner of the exercise, stating that he fulfilled the constitutional requirements of the party and recorded the highest number of lawful votes cast.

Speaking after voting in Oha Ward, Okpe Local Government Area, Oborevwori described the direct primary process as evidence of internal democracy within the party. He also urged party members to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governor added that the APC leadership in Delta State would continue reconciliation efforts aimed at strengthening peace and cooperation within the party.

Meanwhile, Delta State Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, said the turnout during the primary election reflected strong support for the administration.

The Delta APC Chairman, Solomon Arenyeka, also praised party members for the peaceful conduct of the exercise and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to unity ahead of the general elections.
