Adeniyi Adeyemi Pleads Not Guilty to Eight-Count Charge, Bail Hearing Fixed for October 12
Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged “fake Director-General” of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), in Kuje Correctional Centre.
Adeyemi pleaded not guilty to an eight-count charge bordering on alleged conspiracy and forgery brought against him and two others who are currently at large.

The prosecution, led by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, requested an accelerated hearing and urged the court to remand Adeyemi pending the determination of the charges.

His defence counsel, Genesis Francis, asked the court to hear his client’s bail application on Wednesday, citing a medical appointment scheduled for Friday over an unspecified ailment which he said was contagious.
Lead prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, told the court that the police had qualified medical personnel and that medical facilities were also available at the correctional centre.
Justice Umar declined to hear the bail application on Wednesday, citing the volume of cases before the court, and adjourned the matter until October 12 for hearing of the bail application and the substantive suit.
Adeyemi is at the centre of controversy surrounding the PFIPC, which authorities had alleged was not a legally established government agency. He had claimed to have served as its Director-General.
The controversy also involved allegations that Adeyemi claimed his appointment was “purchased” and that he paid ₦400 million through a middleman as part of an alleged ₦600 million arrangement to secure the position.
The matter resulted in a ₦15 billion lawsuit filed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, against Adeyemi over alleged bribery.
The ICPC, which was directed by President Bola Tinubu in July 2026 to investigate the council, later said Adeyemi’s appointment letter was fraudulent and did not originate from the Presidency.
Adeyemi was subsequently arrested by the Police Intelligence Response Team in Osun State, while the ICPC submitted an interim report in August recommending his prosecution.
