Family describes late businessman Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun as a man of faith, integrity and service.

The husband of former Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, has died at the age of 62.

According to a statement issued by the Adeosun family, the businessman passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos.

Announcing his death, the family described the late Adeosun as a devoted Christian whose life was defined by integrity, generosity, hard work and service to God.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Tuesday, 5th August 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.

The family said he was widely respected for his unwavering commitment to his family, faith and community, noting that he touched many lives through his exemplary character and selfless service.

Describing his legacy, the family said Adeosun remained steadfast in his Christian faith while building a successful business career that earned him the admiration of friends, colleagues and associates.

“He was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him. He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the statement added.

Mr Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Minister of Finance Mrs Kemi Adeosun; his children; his siblings, including the Founder of Kuramo Capital, Mr Adewale (Wale) Adeosun; and several other relatives, friends and associates.

While mourning his passing, the family said it was comforted by the Christian hope of eternal rest for those who lived faithfully.

It appealed for privacy during the period of mourning and disclosed that funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced in due course.

The family also expressed appreciation to everyone who had extended prayers, condolence messages and other acts of support.

The statement, signed by Reverend C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, concluded with the biblical passage: “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them,” while praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
