Education Minister commends NECO for a hitch-free exercise but raises concern over high number of absent candidates.
The Federal Government has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), describing the exercise as orderly, credible, and well-organised nationwide.
Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, made the remark after monitoring examination centres in Abuja, where she praised the National Examinations Council (NECO) for ensuring a seamless process and commended candidates for adhering to examination guidelines.

According to the minister, the examination started on time, venues were properly organised, and adequate invigilators were deployed to supervise the exercise.
However, she raised concerns over the number of registered candidates who failed to sit for the examination, revealing that one centre recorded about 18 absentees. She said the government would investigate the reasons behind the high absentee rate.
Prof. Ahmad reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining transparency and integrity in admissions into Federal Unity Colleges.
