Jigawa says 126,639 households have received payments as 25,300 cards are distributed in the second phase.
The Federal Government has released more than ₦11.58 billion for the implementation of the Renewed Hope Social Security Grant, targeting 178,342 beneficiaries across the 37 local government areas of Jigawa State.
The State Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Auwal Sanka, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the progress of the programme in the state.

Sanka said the programme initially captured 254,413 less-privileged households before the number of beneficiaries was adjusted to 178,342.
He explained that implementation began in January 2026, with 126,639 households fully settled during the first phase.
According to him, the second phase is currently underway, with 25,300 payment cards being distributed to registered beneficiaries. He said the exercise is expected to be completed before the end of August, with beneficiaries receiving a total of ₦1.9975 billion under the phase.
Sanka said President Bola Tinubu increased the grant from ₦10,000 to ₦25,000 per payment cycle to reflect current economic realities and rising living costs.
He explained that the programme was designed to support vulnerable families, improve livelihood and nutrition security, and stimulate economic activities at the grassroots.
The commissioner said about 99 per cent of the grants was expected to be spent within local communities, thereby boosting consumption, production, job creation and wealth generation.
He described the initiative as both a humanitarian intervention and an economic strategy aimed at promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
Sanka commended Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi for supporting the programme and creating an enabling environment for its implementation.
He said feedback from beneficiaries indicated that the intervention was already improving household welfare, adding that the state government would continue to monitor the programme and provide updates to policymakers and the public.
