Student body urges undergraduates to reject secret cults, commends Oyo Anti-Cultism Unit, and calls for safer learning environments.

The Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union (FOSSU) National Senate has reaffirmed its commitment to combating cultism in tertiary institutions, urging students to reject all forms of cult-related activities and embrace education, peace, and responsible leadership.

In a statement, the student body described cultism as a destructive social menace that fuels violence, intimidation, and criminality while ruining academic careers and future opportunities.

FOSSU warned that involvement in cult groups often leads to suspension, expulsion, imprisonment, or death, stressing that campuses should remain centres of learning, innovation, and personal development rather than violence and fear.

The Senate also commended the Oyo State Anti-Cultism Unit, led by DSP Giwa Abiodun, for its sustained efforts in tackling cultism through intelligence-driven operations, sensitisation campaigns, and collaboration with educational institutions.

It called on students to resist recruitment attempts, report suspicious activities to school authorities and security agencies, and work collectively to promote peaceful and secure campuses.

Reiterating its message, FOSSU urged students to choose education, integrity, and lawful leadership over cultism, insisting that lasting success is built on discipline, character, and service to society.
