President says appointment reflects global confidence in Nigeria’s envoy and his wealth of experience in governance and diplomacy.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, on his election as Chairman of the United Nations General Assembly Fifth Committee on Budget and Administration.
The President described the appointment as a major recognition of Ibrahim’s competence, leadership qualities and extensive experience, particularly at a time when the UN is pursuing critical financial reforms aimed at improving accountability, effectiveness and long-term sustainability.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said Ibrahim’s emergence shortly after assuming office at the UN demonstrates the confidence the international community has in his abilities.
The President highlighted the envoy’s background in public service, diplomacy, business leadership and legislative oversight, expressing confidence that his expertise would contribute significantly to the work of the influential committee. Tinubu also praised Ibrahim’s academic and professional accomplishments, noting that he would make Nigeria proud while advancing the broader objectives of the United Nations.
