FG clears massive infrastructure package, including N1.8tn Niger highway, major road projects in Oyo, Kwara, Lagos and other states.
President Bola Tinubu has approved 27 major road projects valued at more than ₦3.9 trillion across 15 states as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing drive to improve road infrastructure nationwide.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the approvals on Monday while briefing journalists after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to Umahi, the projects cut across Adamawa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba and Yobe states.
Among the biggest approvals is the re-award of the 409-kilometre dual carriageway in Niger State under the tax credit scheme to Aliko Dangote at a cost of ₦1.8 trillion.
Other key projects include the ₦276 billion dualisation of the Ilorin-Ogbomoso Road, ₦265 billion reconstruction of the Iseyin-Eruwa-Agbesi Road linking Oyo and Kwara states, ₦217 billion dualisation of the Ijaye–Federal Government College–Ilorin Road corridor, and ₦116 billion reconstruction of the Abakaliki-Afikpo Road in Ebonyi State.
Oyo State also secured several major projects, including ₦110 billion for the Ogbomoso-Oko-Illupu Road linking Oyo and Osun states, ₦98 billion for the Idi-Araba-Ayede-Olodo Road, ₦82 billion for the rehabilitation of the Igbeti Road, ₦74 billion for the Igbeti-Soro-Kishi Road, and ₦15.5 billion for the Badeku-Jaiye Road.
The council also approved several other highway rehabilitation and reconstruction projects across the country, including roads in Adamawa, Taraba, Benue, Cross River, Kwara, Kogi, Ekiti, Ondo, Lagos, Plateau and Yobe states.
Umahi further disclosed that the Federal Executive Council approved the full business case for the operation and maintenance concession of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and directed the immediate reconstruction of failed sections along the Ibadan axis using concrete pavement.
The minister also announced the completion of the first 118-kilometre section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway, valued at ₦137 billion, describing it as another milestone in the administration’s nationwide road infrastructure programme.
