President urges Nigerians to embrace good citizenship, unity, and values of sacrifice as Hijri 1448AH begins.
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1st Muharram 1448AH, urging citizens to embrace patriotism, good citizenship, and national unity.
In a goodwill message marking the beginning of the new Hijri year, President Tinubu reflected on the significance of the Hijrah, the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina—which marks the start of the Islamic calendar.

The President said the values of sacrifice, renewal, patience, and faith associated with the Hijrah remain vital for building a peaceful, just, and prosperous nation.
He called on Nigerians, especially the Muslim faithful, to rededicate themselves to acts of kindness, tolerance, honesty, and commitment to duty, describing these virtues as essential to national development and security.
President Tinubu also prayed for peace, prosperity, and divine guidance for the country, expressing hope that the new Islamic year would bring blessings to families and strengthen Nigeria’s progress.
