Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has promised to intensify efforts to grow the state’s economy, reduce poverty, and create more opportunities for residents following his decisive victory in the 2026 governorship election.
Oyebanji, who secured 319,224 votes across the state’s 16 local government areas, described the outcome as a renewed mandate from the people to deepen ongoing development initiatives and deliver greater prosperity.

Speaking after his victory was announced, the governor said his administration would work with greater urgency to implement people-focused policies and accelerate projects across key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
“The best has just begun,” Oyebanji declared, assuring residents that his government would remain committed to improving living standards and ensuring that development reaches every community in the state.
He emphasized that tackling poverty and reducing inequality remain top priorities, adding that meaningful governance must translate into better lives for ordinary citizens.
The governor also expressed appreciation to party leaders, campaign teams, traditional rulers, religious leaders, labour groups, artisans, market women, and persons living with disabilities for their support throughout the election.
Oyebanji further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and election officials for their roles in ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process, pledging that his second term would focus squarely on governance, service delivery, and sustainable development for all Ekiti residents.
