Lawmakers commend Nigeria Customs Service for surpassing its 2025 revenue goal as probe into fake presidential council awaits ICPC report.
The Senate has approved the Nigeria Customs Service’s proposed revenue target of over ₦11 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year, citing the agency’s impressive performance in 2025.
While considering the report of its Committee on Customs and Excise, the Senate noted that the Service exceeded its 2025 revenue target, increasing collections from ₦6.5 trillion to ₦7.2 trillion.

To achieve the new target, the Customs Service plans to strengthen automation, deploy real-time audit systems, improve cargo clearance for imports and exports, and intensify anti-smuggling operations.
Meanwhile, the Senate suspended consideration of a motion seeking an investigation into the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, pending the outcome of the ongoing probe by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
