Police Chief Returns to Ago-Iwoye Division Where He Began His Leadership Journey
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has revisited the Ago-Iwoye Police Division in Ogun State, where he served as a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) decades ago.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, shared the visit on Saturday alongside a video showing Disu touring the station.
During the visit, Disu inspected his former office, residence and the surrounding area, recalling his early days in the Nigeria Police Force.
Describing the return as emotional, the IGP said Ago-Iwoye was where he first tested his leadership abilities after being posted there as a DPO.
“This is my first police station. This is where I learned to be a DPO,” Disu said, recalling how he had never previously served as a DPO before his posting to the division.
He also remembered some residents and traders around the station, including an elderly man known as Baba Aladji and a woman who sold items near the police station.
Iniedu described the visit as a reminder of Disu’s journey from DPO at Ago-Iwoye to Inspector-General of Police, urging others to remember their beginnings.
Disu, in his remarks, encouraged people to make a positive impact wherever they work and posed a reflective question: “Can you go back to where you worked before?”
