First Lady calls for stronger commitment to eliminating hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to work together to reduce stigma, promote early diagnosis and strengthen efforts to eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.

In her message marking the 2026 World Hepatitis Day, the First Lady said she joins the global community in raising awareness about viral hepatitis and the urgent need to expand access to prevention, testing, treatment and care.

She described this year’s theme, “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down,” as a reminder of the need for greater commitment to educating people about the disease and removing barriers that prevent individuals from accessing life-saving health services.

Oluremi Tinubu stressed that early diagnosis and timely treatment remain critical to reducing the burden of hepatitis and improving health outcomes across the country.

She called on Nigerians to support initiatives aimed at increasing awareness, encouraging regular testing and ending the stigma associated with the disease.

The First Lady reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to global efforts to eliminate hepatitis, urging all stakeholders to work together to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing essential healthcare services.
