The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials across Ekiti State ahead of the governorship election and by-elections scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Officials of the commission were seen sorting materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Ado-Ekiti for onward distribution to the state’s 16 local government areas under tight security.

Ekiti Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, said the process has been smooth and assured residents that all materials would reach their destinations on schedule.

Meanwhile, INEC disclosed that the number of registered voters in the state has increased from 987,647 in 2023 to 1,059,360 in 2026.

The commission also revealed that 1,028,929 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected, representing over 97 per cent of registered voters.
