Government pledges consular support for bereaved family as it renews call for peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The Federal Government has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a Nigerian medical graduate, Miss Nnani Adaobi Marian, who reportedly died after sustaining injuries during a Russian aerial attack in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government described the 23-year-old graduate of Kharkiv National Medical University’s death as a tragic loss and extended condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and the Nigerian community.
The ministry said it is working with relevant authorities and Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in Ukraine and Germany to verify the circumstances surrounding the incident and provide necessary consular assistance to the bereaved family.
The Federal Government also renewed its concern over the humanitarian impact of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, calling for an immediate end to hostilities and urging all parties to embrace dialogue and diplomacy in line with international law and the United Nations Charter.
It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare of Nigerians abroad and assured that it would continue to monitor the situation while providing the required support through its diplomatic missions.
