Christopher Musa says security personnel who delay action against terrorists or bandits will be treated as accomplices.

Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), has directed members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies to immediately engage bandits and terrorists without waiting for further orders.

Speaking during the distribution of armoured vehicles to security agencies in Sokoto State, Musa warned that any officer who fails to confront criminal elements while awaiting instructions would be treated as an accomplice.

He stressed that the armoured vehicles and other operational equipment were purchased with taxpayers’ money and must be deployed effectively to protect lives and property.

The minister, however, noted that military hardware alone cannot end insecurity, urging security agencies to prioritise professionalism, discipline, intelligence-led operations and stronger collaboration with local communities.

Musa also charged security personnel to properly maintain the newly distributed vehicles, describing them as strategic national assets acquired at significant public expense, while reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening security through improved welfare, technology, intelligence gathering and inter-agency cooperation.
