Vice President visits President Tinubu after party confirms joint ticket, ending months of speculation.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, putting an end to months of speculation over the party’s vice-presidential candidate.

The ruling party formally submitted the names of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as its presidential ticket for the 2027 poll.

Speaking after receiving the nomination forms in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka expressed confidence that the party would secure another victory and retain power in the next general election.

Following the announcement, Vice President Shettima paid a courtesy visit to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The closed-door meeting was understood to be an appreciation visit after the party reaffirmed him as the vice-presidential candidate.

The decision signals the APC’s confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima partnership that won the 2023 presidential election and will once again fly the party’s flag in the 2027 race.
